COVID recovery plan to be highlighted in PRRD’s 5th SONA

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said that President Duterte will present a recovery roadmap in the upcoming State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 27.

In an interview, Presidential Speaker Harry Roque said that President Duterte would address the coronavirus pandemic and the government's response to the crisis in depth in his upcoming national address. Sec. Roque further mentioned that the President would share economic plans that are yet to be unveiled to the public.

On the other hand, Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Martin Andanar said that the President's speech would highlight the policies and pronouncements that are required at this time, especially in terms of balancing health preparedness and opening up more economic activities.

The three-part pre-SONA panel, he added, has already comprehensively addressed  the successes and potential steps of each national government office, which has helped to prepare a shortened version of the SONA address.

Secretary Andanar stated that concerns about the immediate response on the generation of livelihoods and the expected opening of classes next month are expected to be answered.

In spite of the dangers presented by COVID-19, President Duterte chose to be present at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon

The Presidential Security Group has guaranteed efforts would be set up during the event to protect the President from COVID-19. Aside from the limited number of guests, a COVID-19 screening will also be put in place.
