STATEMENT ON THE P22 INCREASE IN COLA OF NCR WORKERS

The approval of the P22 increase in the daily living allowance for NCR workers is still not enough to cushion the impact of the continuously escalating cost of goods and other commodities. While it may provide immediate relief to our ordinary workers, it will not effectively ease the economic burden of our workers in the long run. We need a long term solution, not a band-aid solution.

For this, I continue to push for a legislated daily wage hike of P125 across-the-board. Only thru a legislated wage hike can we guarantee the workers' right to a living salary and promote social justice. The adoption such of measure, calculated to ascertain the well-being and economic security of all the members of the community, would show that our government truly recognizes the importance of the labor force in the national economy.

Nararapat lang na bigyan natin ng karampatang umento sa sahod ang ating mga manggagawa. Anumang biyaya mula sa gobyerno ay dapat na maramdaman ng ating mga obrero.
