Imagine the sound of a Formula One engine ringing in your ears from the comfort of your couch as you watch the race on television. As you amp the volume, the sound and the feel get better. Now, imagine hearing the same sound live, each engine revolution penetrating each fiber of your body and bellowing an ear splitting howl every turn of the circuit.
Experience the thrill of the race as the Grand Prix Season sets up shop at the island state of Singapore for the Formula One Singtel Singapore Grand Prix. Earning the title “The jewel in the Formula One Crown,” the Lion City again prepares its city streets to host this astonishing exhibition of man and machine from September 17-26, 2010.
Being the only Grand Prix race at night and under bright lights, this leg of the season introduces a lot of new factors for not only the audience but for the competing teams as well. “The Singapore Grand Prix is really unlike any other. Many tracks claim to be a street circuit, but Singapore is the only place where the track is used every day of the year. It’s really what sets the Singapore Grand Prix apart,” says the voice of the Star Sports Formula One coverage, Steve Slater. “It is the most watched event in the Grand Prix calendar,” Slater adds.

Get the opportunity to watch stars like McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, and the legendary Michal Schumacher with his new team Mercedes as they each blast their engines to breakneck speeds of about 300 kilometers per hour. With a total of nine grandstands set up along the course, live audiences can catch the action from different vantage points, from the pit lane, sharp curves, and straight forward acceleration.
Apart from the on-track entertainment, spectators can also look forward to high energy concerts and crowd drawing parties around Singapore’s Circuit Park. Some of the names that would headline the entertainment are celebrity performers Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Daughtry, and Adam Lambert performing right at the heart of the Marina Bay circuit.
“The headliners are just the start of the story,” says Michael Roche, Executive Director of the Singapore Grand Prix. “We have over 300 performers as part of a diverse mix, ranging from international DJs to aerial theatrical performances and from opera to even a Brazilian martial arts troupe. There truly is something for everyone on the 10 stages and in every part of the Circuit Park.”
From September 17 to 26, the blur of the Grand Prix circuit will paint the city streets of Singapore red. Take the opportunity to witness the convergence of dazzling sights and ear splitting sounds at this event’s third installment.
