There was much ado at the recent formal opening of the Choi Palace Seafood and Shark’s fin Restaurant at the Richmonde Hotel in Eastwood City. Not just one, but three eminent personalities were at the event to cut the ribbon: Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Presidential Sister Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, and former President Joseph Ejercito-Estrada lent their presence and precious time to grace the event and wish the Choi restaurateurs well. It was even Former President Estrada who led the ceremonial tossing of coins for good luck, and the well-heeled guests crowed with laughter as Erap jokingly pretended to pocket some of the coins he was supposed to throw.
There is much reason for this celebration, because with the establishment of Choi Palace in Eastwood, diners in the Libis area would no longer have to cross EDSA towards Greenhills or Megamall, where the other Choi restaurants are located, in order to enjoy authentic Chinese food. Abet Antonio, one of the owners of the restaurant revealed, “In fact, we are the only Chinese restaurant in Eastwood,” he says. At Choi Palace, guests can savor the flavors that the real McCoy, Mr. Choi of Hong Kong, has already popularized in his other namesake restaurants – and much more.
Executive Chef Luk Chi Keung and his slew of chefs from Hong Kong offer such culinary treats prepared from live seafood choices as Australian Abalone, Tiger Lobster in Superior Sauce, Steamed Bluedotted Grouper in Soy Sauce, and Steamed King Crab in Egg White. They can also whip up super specials like their Braised Superior Shark’s Fin Soup, Braised Abalone with Fish Maw and Sea Cucumber, and their fried pigeon dish. Antonio adds, “Guests who want something even more extraordinary can also request the chef to prepare a dish that is not on the menu!”
Aside from the food itself, the servings at Choi Palace are different from their other restaurants. “At Choi Garden, they can have individual orders, with rice toppings while here at Palace, they order for the group. This is very ideal for our market, which is composed of families in the nearby communities or offices on a lunch or dinner meeting.” Another big plus is the service. Even during the hubbub of the opening affair, the wait staff remained courteous, and the service stayed prompt. Pinoy and Fil-Chi foodies craving for authentic Cantonese/ Hong Kong Cuisine can easily have a great dining experience at this new restaurant.
