Ambassador Huang Xilian and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro Locsin Jr. Jointly Celebrate the New Year

Ambassador Huang extended his new year greetings to Secretary Locsin, and expressed his appreciation to Secretary Locsin’s contribution to China-Philippines relations. 

On 2 January 2020, at the invitation of H.E. Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian, Hon. Teodoro Lopez Locsin Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs came to his residence to jointly celebrate the new year. 

Ambassador Huang extended his new year greetings to Secretary Locsin, and expressed his appreciation to Secretary Locsin’s contribution to China-Philippines relations. 

Secretary Locsin expressed his pleasure to accept Ambassador Huang’s invitation at the start of the new year, and happily recalled his long engagement with China since his first visit to Beijing as early as 1967. 

Both sides expressed satisfaction on the development of China-Philippines relations during the past year under the strategic guidance of the two presidents as well as the directive of the two foreign ministers, and expressed confidence that the bilateral relations would embrace new development 
opportunities in 2020, which marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines. 

The two sides also discussed a wide-range of issues of mutual interest, including oil and gas development as well as major infrastructure projects, and agreed to work jointly in the 
spirit of “seizing the day and living it to the full” to push for further substantive progress in bilateral cooperation across the board. 

Secretary Locsin and Ambassador Huang were joined by officials from the DFA and the Embassy.
