DILG shuts down POGO in Pampanga

CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga: Secretary Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and police operatives from Police Regional Office 3 (PRO 3) padlocked a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) in Angeles City, Pampanga, on Saturday afternoon after rescuing 43 foreigners who allegedly were forced to work there.

Abalos, together with PRO 3 Regional Director BGen. Cesar Pasiwen and other police officials, closed down the Lucky South 99 Outsourcing Inc. located along Fil-Am Friendship Highway, Angeles City.

The DILG said it was investigating if officials of Lucky South 99 were trafficking Chinese and other foreigners.

Abalos said they are looking into possible cases in other POGOs in the city.

He commended the Philippine National Police, especially the Anti-Kidnaping Group, for acting promptly in less than 12 hours after being alerted on human trafficking in the Angeles City POGO.

Pasiwen said Central Luzon police are intensifying their intelligence efforts amid the reported abduction and human trafficking involving POGOs in Region 3.

The region groups the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales.

Pasiwen urged the public to report illegal activities in their areas to authorities.
